It may be an unrealistic dream, but i have a secret dream to be a fashion designer and a (clothing + beauty + art + food+ furniture and all the pretty things) boutique owner because it combines all my interests - traveling around the world to source for lovely pieces of garments or just anything that catches my eye, in this whimsical, vintage yet modern little shop house. Perhaps magazine shoots can take place, maybe i can even have runway shows and so on. I don't think i'll ever succeed into becoming a fashion designer because i can't design/can't sew but i know something nice when i see it. Of course, that is very subjective because what is beautiful to me may be too much for someone else.
Sigh ;) I love to dream, and seriously i can't exactly imagine myself to be in a boring *yawns* position in some office doing mundane things. Unless of course, it is a job in a magazine like Female! (read http://la-belle-deva.blogspot.com/2008/04/new-love-female.html for the entry on my latest love for Female Mag)
Or unless the job is especially important for a cause i am passionate about -> Environment Sustainability. Perhaps hospitality because i love to meet people, i love to know all about places and traveling. Or something creative like fashion and beauty. But nothing beats my secret dream really. Although the air miles clocked in is actually very very ironic to being environmentally friendly.
Here's something i've been reading. The A-Z of Eco Fashion by The Ecologist (http://www.theecologist.org/archive_detail.asp?content_id=1149 )
It is a good piece of article that educates you on the perils and impacts of fashion from the clothing that you're wearing and how to be eco-friendly.
Some good green fashion practices :)
- Buy Fair Trade Cotton - Topshop has a range, Marks and Spencer too. Triumph has a new eco line of lingerie
- Reuse your clothes by selling them at flea markets, auctions or give them away to friends or to the community, join the recycling bag program where they will collect your recyclables on certain dates
- Don't buy on a whim, buy clothes that you will see yourself wearing frequently and can match with other stuff
- Air dry instead of tumble dry your clothes
- Don't iron clothes that clearly don't need ironing
- DIY your old clothes to give them a new look!
- Support flea markets, thrift and vintage stores such as Salvation Army, Granny Day's Out (Peninsula Plaza) and online communities like Sgselltrade, Ebay for second hand clothes.
