Crazy day but so awesome

Today was just mad. I had a really hectic day but everything worked out fine and it was simply... awesome. I really enjoyed my friends' company.

Cycled at ECP with YZ and PL in the morning. I love the sea breeze and the feel of wind on my face, the only gripe was the rather harsh sun at 10am. Despite my SPF 50, i got a bit burnt in the 2hrs of cycling.

Nice huh?

More views from Bedok Jetty

I think Bedok Jetty is solar powered, that's the evidence!

It was Dim Sum Buffet at Tung Lok after with my geog friends from uni. Great bunch of people, i love big groups and we're all seated around a round table just chattering and enjoying the food. Went for karaoke at this super cheap place ($2/person 3 hrs) at Katong and i sang lots of songs and heard my friends too.

Harry Potter movie with JAE at night, huddled together in the cold cinema..and now i am back home. Finally. :)

I missed him. And i know it's strange, but i'm just always reminded of him. Somehow.

Travelling (Quoted)

"The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." - St Augustine

Amazingly put. And notice the word is 'travel' not 'tour'.

My knowledge of the world is paltry. I endeavor to explore this book a little at a time, but i know when my time ends, the book will still remain unfinished.

In spite of that, i hope that my book of memories will be filled with the most beautiful, most touching and most interesting revelations of people, of Nature, of culture and strange places. And most of all, of Love.

It's strange, I woke up this morning feeling that it is so... right.

A cool ride, an interesting encounter and a nice dinner

Yesterday, i went to S.A Church for its evening service because i woke up late for my own church. I met a person P who sat next to me in the middle of service. I shared the hymn book with P as i saw that P doesn't have it. We started talking and so on, i replied out of politeness really. P was touched by my small act (it was really nothing, we do it a lot in my church) and asked me out for coffee. We did have one eventually because i had some time before meeting a friend for dinner.

P is an associate director at a HUGE acc MNC.

Dinner was at Kenny Rogers because i was craving madly for the yummy grilled chicken, their famous corn muffins and chomping on corn nibblets and coleslaw. It makes me madly happy - am i just easy to please or what? but good food makes me happy. A gave me a ride home in A's swanky cool car - a T Roadster MR-S or 2 (i am guessing this up because i did not directly ask A, but i saw the brand and asked for the 'type'.)

It looks like this.

It's close to the road, looks and feel like a sports car (it is one) , great for speeding and for curvy roads. It was a cool experience man! But climbing out of it feels a bit strange because it's so low, not so good for skirt wearing people.

And today, we had dinner. :D Actually i think he looks kinda good in short hair. Honestly.

Supper and Shakespeare

Last night, i went to Changi Village on a late night for the first time. After midnight, the trannies are out in full blaze by the carpark in scanty attire and their impossibly long skinny legs and humongous ___ while cars are slowly driving past them with the drivers taking their time in this late night 'shopping' business.

I was completely like flabbergasted or something. These trans are pretty, yes but kind of in a trashy way. Opps. There was this one with a see through black dress and black whatever inside. Some in a small tee and ultra mini skirts and super high heels. Just. many. And they wave at the drivers, smiling and flirting.

I wonder what they thought when they saw me in the car. But they were definitely exhibits to me.

Some near distance away there is a yellow van with 2 Singaporean looking young men smoking outside and they seem to be surveying the area. Pimps? Yea man, they do look like young Singapore chinese men who are in their mid 20s-30s.

I was there slightly after 1.30am. It was a bit uncomfortable to see 'wo-men' on blatant display and the number of cars that breeze by them while they get into the car. And i was wondering what was in his mind.

When we left 2 hours later, the action had died down by some degree and i could see some sort of row call with 'girls' and pimps lining together. But Mr-Miss See-through-black-dress and 'her' cronies are stretching themselves by 2 black cars facing the road and apparently still looking for (more) buyers.

On a side note, it was really really nice to be with him. We had some supper and drinks, and walked along the beach to observe people fishing and so on.

There was no breeze that night. But the sky had a nice reddish tone, no moon in sight.

That aside, i'm going for a Shakespeare play next weekend, but not with him.

Sigh. Why did i agree? Now i feel bad towards the person who asked me. But it'll be fun i suppose, trying out something new by watching Shakespeare, and i probably will enjoy myself.

PS: My hair is officially more Asian now - it's a Dark Brown Black. I LIKE IT :D

2 days of work

After two days of work, i am super tired. Lots to learn and absorb, and even after the learning is done, i'll have to be self-motivated and disciplined as well as highly creative and able to understand what my boss wants. The good thing is the exposure and learning i will have and undergo which will be very useful for my career if i perform well. :)

Too much to learn and i am so so tired now.

Sunday

Sunday has been good so far, spent my morning handling the kids but naughty as they are, i do care alot for their spiritual life. They are cheeky and such a handful, but so innocent and their little souls are reaching out to God. :) That is what motivates me all the time.

Going to be summoned by my dearest gfs (Jolly n Anna) to the gym :( boo hoos, i'm such a pack of lazy bones especially on a lazy rainy Sunday.

I should start thinking of my financial goals and start saving up on them. Such as for braces (still wondering if i should do it), for my driving lessons, for my future home and for marriage. And tiny luxuries once in a while.

I don't know if i have met the person God have meant for me, i really hope he exists..and i really really want to meet him. Maybe...

But right now I am really happy. I really enjoy being with him and talking to him. I love how his eyes dazzle when he speaks to me. And I am kind of missing him already. Am I crazy or what? As usual, this is me. Full of dreams and ideals and imagination that can be really random and impossible.

Work will start tomorrow, i pray really hard that God will be with me. I am excited yet also scared. If i have a 1-2 weeks break before work actually start, what should i do? An overseas vacation is out of question and i really don't know. The future is so uncertain, and i am secretly afraid of difficult people and clients to deal with.

Reflections and Blessings

I feel really, truly blessed.

With a family who loves each other (although sometimes the communication may not be so often such as with brother) and family who loves and cares for me. I only honestly feel it when I am in cast and crutches, with the broken knee. Dad will tapao food for me from nice places (hawker food, economical food but so so good), send me to the mrt or my interview locations and my hospital appointments. Mum will as usual ask me to eat this supplement and that supplement and also tapao food for me making sure i won't be hungry, help me set up my 'bathing' stuff when i was in crutches - chairs, plastic bags, tapes etc. Sis also helps to take this and that, and even tie my shoe laces when i couldn't bend down... while brother will ask after me in his own way.

My extended family is really lovely too. Grandma and aunts bring food for me even when i ask them not to when my family went for a holiday. I even get a body care set and one month's supply of delicious collagen drinks frm my Aunt. :)

As for school, i have graduated and although i didn't manage to jump a class, it is okay because i am happy and i enjoyed my final semester. I have also found a job i think i will enjoy and grow well in, after weeks of feeling demoralized and unsure because i wasn't called often for interviews and my injured leg 'traps' me at home. Was feeling mediocre and lost, unsure of what i have and what i can contribute to the world. I almost signed the contract to be a teacher too, and luckily i did not.

I am blessed to meet him . I won't have gotten this job without him, without his encouragement, without his sharing of his experience, without his prayers, without our nightly (almost) chats. I feel truly blessed to have met him and i know it is all part of God's plans. God sends angels when we are down, never doubt that. As long as we believe, as long as our hearts lean towards Him, humbling ourselves in His presence. The power of prayer is strong indeed! And the power of faith.

He said that maybe God arranged for us to 'meet' for getting me this job. I felt a bit sad to hear that...because i hope it is not only that. We'll see... i guess time will tell.

Besides that, i am VERY THANKFUL for my girlfriends - my JADE girls. Anna who visits and teaches me piano and keeps me company, and Joy who visits and brings food and calls me with her exciting news. Debbie who is far away but we feel very close when we're together again. They are my truest friends indeed!

And i'm thankful for Jocelyn who visited me when i was injured. And for friends who are always helping me and always looking out for me, such as YIA lending me his mkting books, Bastian for talking to me when i'm bored, Jasper for always being such a kind and patient friend/brother and buying me lovely gifts to cheer me up...and W kor who always spoils me with nice presents and treats. :)

I hope that i will always feel this blessed even when times are tough. Because you know what? My injured leg is a blessing indeed.

:D Thank God!

I've got the job!! :D

And you know, i don't know if it is a good thing or not, but i'm starting to really, really like him. Thank God for allowing us to meet, i don't know what plans you have for me God, but i'm going to live my life for you and let you lead me there. I know you have planned someone just for me, and a road for me to take, a place to contribute and shine for you.

love, eva

Coming up with media campaigns and beauty buys

Unemployed but busy, that describes me. A fresh graduate hunting for a job and now occupied with coming up with strategies to ace interviews. Gah, it is not easy! Especially when I really want to work with this employer, the provider of news over cable tv, mobile, online, print. It is such an exciting and dynamic industry, perfect for someone like me who loves challenges, broadening my horizons and learning new things.

Anyway, i'll just try my best, pray and let God do the rest. If it is my path, it will be.

Yesterday, I've been hanging out at the LKC Reference Library Biz section buried (not really) in business marketing and media advertising books. I love the place, like totally! :)

After that, it was heading to Bugis for some shopping. I've been quite concerned with my perpetually always there puffy eye bags and dark eye circles from the lack of (beauty) sleep, and over-straining my eyes from computer/books/tv usage. Stepping into the Pink and fresh SASA - beauty trove, meant a walk into temptation land and YES i did get something.

This is super expensive in my books. SEVENTY EIGHT BUCKS before the 20% discount.

Anyway I got the 'Daily Defense' and it is supposed to be for wrinkles and dark eye circles. The SA was really convincing and i was an easy victim as i've been thinking of trying new eye creams. It was only after I bought the item when i realise what the heck am i doing with an anti-wrinkle eye cream? As in, i know i will get wrinkles soon and maybe have some or what but i need something that deals with eyebags + eye circles... WHICH MEANS the 'Overnight repair' product may have been better! Or the Garnier Aqua Eye Roll on which is so much cheaper?!!?!

:( It better work wonders, i was persuaded as its voted Holy Grail by Cozycot, and won Women's Weekly and CLEO beauty awards. Will be super pfffed if it doesn't work.

PS: Looking forward to the latest Harry Potter movie and still wanting to watch 'Threads of Destiny'

A visit to St Andrew church service

I couldn't wake up in time for my church today, and I went to St Andrew 11.15am service instead. The sermon is above love and obeying God's commandments just like how Abraham did when he unquestioningly and faithfully led his only beloved son to the alter as a living sacrifice when God asked him to.

God knows his faithfulness through this act and stopped him at the last moment.

Although Abraham's son Issac was spared, God did not spare His own Son Jesus Christ. To save our sins, God sent His Son to die for us sins.

And the speaker showed this video/song "Sacrifice' by Bob Fitts. It touched me so deeply and it was my first time watching it. It was so relevant to the sermon, and i was trying so hard not to cry.

And it made me remember how much God love me and how I should live my life for Him.

Unexpected MV + Dinner with the girls + Movie w Bastian

I've been watching MTV China and I kinda like this song - Unexpected by Will and Alisa :) It's cute.

Last Sunday, I met up with Anna and Joy for a dinner out. We were planning to go for a swim but it was raining heavily and the weather was perfect for sleeping! So what was a swim turned into a dinner and hanging out at Joy's place and getting a free therapeutic massage from Jolly.

Xi Nai Cafe (formerly known as Hong Kong Cafe at Joo Chiat)

Anna et Moi

Joy commented on how we look like we're interviewing her from across the table. 'Interviewee' pose!

And the interviewers...presenting Ms. Eva & Ms. Anna

Food came, YUM!
Anna and I shared this Baked Pork Chop w tomato sauce and Baked Seafood with cream sauce while Joy got a baked broccoli dish. How can anyone eat so little for dinner, no wonder her blood pressure was dangerously low!? In the end we shared everything :)

Dessert from the shop next to the eatery.

Movie with Bastian
It was a boring never-ending day for me and Bastian suddenly felt like watching a movie, and so we did!

It was dinner at Nihon (sorry twin, i know the Jap food isn't good but it's cheap!) , followed by Ice Age 3

I wanted a picture in front of the Ferris Wheel, and I got popcorns

Was trying to be funny and force popcorns onto him, one dropped and he took a picture of it, crazy twin

xoxo, principessa

PS: Bumming around with no job can be quite fun when you have people and resources to go out with!
The bad thing is that i've been shopping a bit too much... Just got a set of work clothes from Robinsons ($140 after discount), some nail polish, a new belt, a new bag for work and play. Heh :p

GRADUATION!! July 07, 2009

It has been a long walk through these 4 years. Time really flies when you're at the end of it but when you look back and think of it, it is all worth it. Slogging over papers, intensive studies before the exams, having lunches with good friends, staying up late in school over projects and camping in the library or the GIS lab...

And at first, everything was so foreign. NUS was so foreign to me when i first stepped in. People I don't know, systems and rules that are so unfamiliar... and now i feel like I know much more. And i start missing it. The familiar green grass and covered canopy of my faculty, how i've been rushing through those slabs because as usual, i'm 10-15 minutes late for class. My familiar spot in the new Arts canteen where I'll sit there with my ice lemon tea and laptop or lecture notes trying to figure out how best to approach the latest assignment.

And I'll see some familiar faces around. There is this guy from Economics, year 4. We took a class together since the first year first semester of school - SE Asian Studies and since then, i've always been seeing him around on and off. Like me, he'll be typing away on the laptop. Although we don't really talk to each other, we are going through similar things together through the end. And I saw him at the graduation too, we're graduating in the same ceremony.

Some pictures before the ceremony

That's me!! :)

Why am I holding the invitation card instead of my degree scroll?

And pictures with all my dearest classmates.
I didn't take much because my camera wasn't with me. There's more on fb :)

And my parents who came :D

The steps from graduation is uncertain. I really don't know where I will end up. I've been accepted into MOE for a permanent teaching appointment - some months teaching in school before i enter the next NIE intake, and from then on, it's a 3 years bond. That sounds like I am going to be 'bonded' for 5 years if pre-NIE teaching lasts for a year! :( :( :( NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Can I scream? And I need to decide all these by 14 July next Tuesday because the offer lasts till then.

The only good thing about it is that I know I CAN do it. Teaching is not a piece of cake, but it has always been something i am very familiar with, and with lots of experience. Classroom management is the trickier part if I get Secondary school kids but if i go into teaching, my experience and familiarity w the profession (Dad's a teacher for EONS) + my passion for the subject Geography will help a lot. The pay is not too bad too, I'll get a starting of $2750-$2900 and with my degree class, i'm thinking it's about $2800. MOE is also offering S$6k cash directly. Pay will go up when I complete NIE.

With the money it's definitely easier for me. I can learn driving, return my parents the money I owe them (US + Aussie Trip) and start the braces/ or wisdom tooth removal stuff. BUT, as with life, i prefer to choose the hard way out - going into a new field at work.

I don't like to take the easy way out, why am I like that? Teaching is not easy too, the hours are killer and there is a lot of crap work. Maybe I just hate commitment.

Pictures from the Marina Barrage Shoot

Photos for my class calender.

Of course, only 1 is chosen but the photographer JK took many for us partly for his portfolio. He used special lenses so close-ups look quite distorted... especially for the first person.

Ortho and Physio Appointment

It's a Friday, finally. Yet Fridays don't really have much meaning for me because i haven't started working, so no TGIF moments. How time passes though! I remember I was in church just some days ago. As the days go, I can't remember much things that happened this week; except the interview with Trixilini, collecting my grad gown, meeting up with my geog gfs, and waiting for more calls for interview?

As the days go and convocation nears, it can be quite demoralizing. I wished I had studied harder in Year One, then i would have gotten better grades? Though some of my friends with better grades have not found a job either. Most who have are already in MOE, and for some lucky few, landed cushy positions in stat boards of our dreams.

I know I have to wait on God, that He knows what is best for me. I should be patient :) I should be proactive but I should have faith, but sometimes it is really not easy.

Anyway, the physio prescribed more exercises for me. I should hit the gym more often with strength growing exercises esp in my quads, but those exercises are really tiring! The orthopedist says I am healing well and physio should do the trick so that i don't need surgery. :x ! Does that mean there is a possibility I may need it in future and be imprisoned further? :( I hope that day doesn't come...

With H, I am still confused. He promised to communicate more, to share his thoughts and his feelings through emails or smses to me. But so far, like before, he hasn't. He's always busy and though we do chat online once every few days for a short while, he's always rushing off somewhere or have lots of work to do. :( I really don't know what to think about it. Otherwise, i know he is completely serious and sincere, I feel completely safe with him, yet these little things are actually very very important to me.

On the other hand, there is someone whom i am unafraid of sharing my fears, thoughts and dreams with. He understands what I am going through and although we've not known each other for long, i'm really happy to chat with him every night and somehow, i just have things that i want to tell him about everyday.

I smile when I see him online and although i've never met him, he's like a comrade going through similar things in life together. I know he hasn't slept much for the past 2 weeks because we've been chatting till late and I am kind of worried for him. I can sleep for hours in the day and wake up late because of my free status but he has a proper job that starts way early in the morning that could be quite stressful and demanding...

I'm not sure if we'll always be like that, but i've always wanted to know someone like him.

At the moment, i feel truly blessed.

Dear God, Thank You for still loving me.

xoxo, principessa
