Fragility of Life

My friend's friend is one of the missing five Singaporean dragon boaters when their boat capsized at the Cambodian dragon boat race two days ago. After 2 days, his body is finally found. And all the five missing have been found, not alive but drowned.

I don't know why, but after hearing about it, reading the news, and seeing how they actually look like from the newspaper, i just cried. I'm really sad over their demise, because they're so young, they looked so happy, full of life and vibrant in their pictures. I think about deeply saddened and full of grief their parents, friends, girlfriends will be, and i imagine how i will feel if one of the persons is someone i know and love. :(

How fragile life is, we often overestimate ourselves, we think that we're young and we shouldn't need to think about death because it is something far, far away. But alas, it is not so. It can be really near, it can happen to anyone, anytime. All these drowning accidents, jacuzzi pools accidents all makes me especially skeptical and scared of water. I know how to swim and float but waters can be so strong and dangerous, it was an unexpectedly huge current that overturned their boats, and pulled these strong young men under. How about that jacuzzi accident where this tall Caucasian man/and a young boy got sucked under and everyone is helplessly watching, unable to pull them out because the energy was sucking them in so strongly?

I think i now have a phobia of jacuzzi, swimming pools and the sea. I will still swim, but i'll stick to the side of the pool because i haven't swam for so long! I missed the feeling of water around, gently paddling about and floating. But i'll be more cautious of water now, really. Although the boat marina choice is first on my work n travel list, i hope and pray that nothing will happen during my time there. Cos i'll be staying on a big boat, serving passengers food, checking them into rooms, changing bedsheets and all that kind of thing.

But one thing we can be sure of, is that everything that happens and will happen is part of God's plans. We may not understand why He meant for it to be, or why He can seem so cruel, but we have to trust Him because we can't see the big picture, we don't know how it may be a blessing elsewhere. If i ever pass away one day before my time, suddenly, i hope that I will be with God... so that I will be able to see my loved ones there too, some other day. And I hope and pray I will see all of them, and we'll be together again.

12th Nov - Dinner with Fydi

My Ashton Grilled Fish with Herbs, Onion Rings and Baked Potato (approx $6.50 only!)

Last Monday was Fydi dinner day, and we all headed to Serangoon Gardens Ashton Steak House for a cheap but yummy dinner before the mad exams stress, and also to spend some time as a group before Angus leaves for exchange to London next semester (1st Jan)

(Btw, My exams starts in a week on the 24th but i haven't started studying, how bad can this get?)

So anyway, who and what is Fydi? It's actually our project group name for this geography module - Nature and Society. Consists of Sophie, Jocelyn, Wen Jie, Angus and Me :) My geography friends, and we all click pretty well and i'm so glad about it because i was the one who introduced the guys to our group. When all my friends knows each other and becomes friends, i'm happiest.

And guess what, this is my very first time at Serangoon Gardens. My first time seeing Chomp chomp, first time knowing how S.G actually looks like! I'm such a mountain tortie, i hear and read about it, but i've never been to so many places. :( Is it because i can't drive and can't explore night spots?

Pictures of my friends goofing around and enjoying our Ashton food. Food makes us merry (Jocelyn, Sophie, Wen Jie, Angus)

After dinner, we convinced someone to take a picture of us

Dinner never ends with just dinner.. there's always desserts! In the form of Haato ice cream (WJ's treat!)

That's my fingers on the left, WJ's on the right because we're staking our territory...i chose the choco + hazelnut ice cream, he chose lychee + cookies n cream, which we all shared as a group of course!!

Sophie and Angus are always in black, making them (esp Sophie) the '黑色会老大', while Joce and WJ looks mitchy matchy in pinks and corals

Ice cream and Dai-tee (Tai-tee, tai-dee???) , i haven't actually played this game as long as i can remember, so i was really blur throughout and lost continuously until i started getting smarter and climb through the ranks.. to end as second last. Haha :) Angus was the 'king' for most of the games but he lost to me at the last round!

Haa! That explains his terribly sad expression vs my satisfied smile

Thinking about the exams makes us pout, and whine, and complain :S

But one thing that makes us smile is, knowing that the guys are actually crazier than we are (really)
Ritualistic waves (they even have the same position!!)

Shift from Diaryland

Hello Blogger! (:

Taken outside Chanel (NAC) with my new LG Shine phone
I just love the big black roses and their eternally chic ensembles.

I will work hard to be able to afford a piece of them.

Diaryland's interface makes it so hard to add pictures and i've decided to create a new blog at blogger instead. :)

Previous diary: http://snowgal86.diaryland.com
(All my past entries are there, i won't delete that account so i may have to check in periodically so they won't delete me. Unless i know of some way to save my past entries somewhere somehow, which i don't know how! Ugh.)

I've been using diaryland for so long (since secondary school) and i do feel like i've betrayed it, but this will definitely make it easier to share pictures and stuff because i don't have to do it the html way.

This will be the official first entry, hope you like this layout, i 'made' the pictures myself although it is not taken by me, but by NAF NAF. It's one of my favourite french fashion boutique, makes good quality clothes for women in their 20s-30s for both work and play.

And Goodbye Diaryland :(
