Criteria for a Dream Guy.

Lean, Muscular, Can Fight.

And I mean the last one very seriously, his height doesn't matter..but he must be able to pack a punch. And protect you when you need it.

Dress sense? Shun Oguri style.

Skinny tie, shirt, layers of jackets, preppy is the style i adoreeee on guys! Not to be afraid of wearing accessories for guys, such as necklaces or bracelets. But in order to do that, you have to be assured with yourr own masculinity first.

Appropriate sensitivity, always there to rescue you, and sometimes boyish. And better yet if he is rich and capable and adored by a million girls...but among all that, you are the only girl he is devoted to and have eyes for (besides family).

I AM DREAMING ALREADY, SERIOUSLY. Rui, Domyoji, Gong Chan.... if they're real, i'll want to marry them!

Oh, and contrary to popular beliefs on Singapore girls, i personally prefer Asian guys. I don't think i like golden hair guys because they are too bold sometimes, bad news for Singaporean guys because most of the time, only korean and japanese guys are dream guys material. They have the culture, romance, language (to me), dress sense and weather behind them.

Singaporeans are just too practical, and not romantic enough. My bf doesn't count, but whyyyyyyy, whyy can't he fight?!!! He's too soft like marshmellow already, he really should take up a fighting sport like muay thai or something to boost his dream-guy index.

after-school thoughts

School is mad, i'm sure you wouldn't want to hear about this and all i want to do, is really throw out all the projects, tests and exams stress out of the window and sleep in my very comfortable bed. Or work in a semi-routine job that enables me to spend my leisure time after work doing things that truly matter to me or make me happy, like going out with friends and boyfriend, painting nails and checking out pretty places, surrounding myself with all things beautiful, reading and so on..
Once school madness ends and if my budget allows..

i'll want to color my hair a chocolate brown again

go for a full body massage complete with wrap and a jacuzzi a a spa

put on braces to straighten my teeth

learn more dance -hip hop, jazz, adult ballet, salsa..anything

go for ice-skating again and learn how to roller skate

read more books

take pictures of things i want to sell and sell them

get a part time holiday job to earn some cash

and.. dream that school has officially ended and i can find a fulfilling job.

PS: Some random school photos

With Diyana and Jacinta in the Geog Honors Room

Presentation for our pseduo business proposal for a Center for Tropical Geography, it is the first time i'm wearing work related attire to school.

Need to buy more business clothes, bag and shoe because more presentations require us to dress up :(
Think about it as investment for the future i guess, but i hate work clothes, they are so un-me. I prefer to wear sundresses and cheerful separates. There's no avoiding it though, growing up means a change in wardrobe.

Daisies from Celestine some weeks back, she bought it to cheer us up. :)

Random MTV day

Deepavali holiday was spent on random things like surfing MTVs on the mtv channel.

Some new songs that sounds not too bad. But one thing i really dislike is the level of sexual references of western mtvs, commercials and shows. It's mad, sex sells, but it's getting more and more... unbearably too much! No wonder teenagers and kids dress sexily and behave immorally so early on.

Okay but the songs do have a nice tune... they are so dancey. But after hearing a few times, it can be irritating, it's like the Rihanna Umbrella song, you either like it or hate it.

Beyonce - If I were a boy

Shontelle - TShirt

Britney Spears - Womanizer
*This is quite funny actually, payback for disgusting womanizers. Too raunchy though Britney really lost a lot of weight!! She looks really good, like before all the pregnancies and stuff.

PS: Never drink Sweet-talk's premium green tea with nata de coco, it tastes GROSS. Try it with pearls only. :)

Have babies with smart people at "your level"

From CNA News read on yahoo

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/cna/20081024/tap-201-mm-lee-says-world-economy-restor-231650b.html

"On a lighter note, the Minister Mentor touched on what he calls assortative mating, that is, finding a spouse at your level — something he strongly believes in.

He said: "I have explained this. I think I lost votes after I explained the awful truth. Nobody believed it, but slowly it dawned on them, especially the graduates, that yes, you marry a non—graduate, then you worry about whether or not your son or daughter is going to make it to the university."

This is serious stuff, baby-making. After all, everyone wish that their baby is brilliant. But is this too environmentally deterministic (environment determines behaviour and outcome) ? Genes determine your intelligence so that if your parents are smarties, you're highly likely to be one too. But if you examine it closer, you wonder.. that it may indeed make sense. It's more than genes, its the environment (nuture) you live in. If your parents are both graduates, they are more likely to speak better, demand more and make informed choices (not just old wives tale) in what type of toys and activities will help children grow better... and perhaps rub off a bit of their success on their child, and inspire them to think higher.. ??

But what about the child? Surely they have their own ideas on whether they like or want to study, high flying parents may get smart children but they may neglect their kids, and their very smart children may use their 'intelligence' the wrong way..rebelling, getting away with wrongs smartly etc. Or 'low-flyling' parents may devote all their attention and savings to support the kid, and as the kid sees how hard the parents work, will strive to work harder to give them a better life..

These so called lower IQ parents? Say secondary school dropouts or people who are just, better at other things, with lower IQ but skilled in their own way (say they can cook a mean dish and make lotsa bucks at hawking food)

If people with O levels only marry other O levels holder.. and Masters graduate marry another masters graduate.

If the saying holds true, then the O levels parents are likely to have children who are probably going to have O levels smartness (maybe diploma) while the masters grad parents are likely to have children of that level.. there won't be much mobility within the social ranks? (not that it exactly exist, how about IQ level rank..)

That sounds like the Caste system in India!

Or the 1984 book written by George Orwell.

To be fixed in a so called class position..by virtue of "environment determinism".

At the end, genes do make a difference, BUT so does nuture. Whatever level you are in, UPGRADE yourself and read up more, take up courses, train yourself to be a better parent! And give your kids the attention they need and lots of love. Then, they're more likely to be better versions of yourself. :)

I always believe in speaking well to children and not assuming they are dumbos who cannot understand adult speak, raising children is tough especially in this already tough world.

LASTLY, there is some kind of fundamental ambiguity in defining your 'level'. It is not just academic or intelligence right? How about EQ? Undefinable, untangible skills like creativity (who can define creativity!!)... etc etc.

Erm, does family class matter? Say both are graduates but one if from a lower income class while the other is from a high income class?

It's all too fuzzy woozy.

But yes, MM Lee's words does make some sense. But take it with a pinch of salt. Marry and make babies with someone you love, and raise them up in the best kind of conditions that you can provide them with. :)

xoxo, so nutty with school work i'm even blogging like i'm in school. :S

"With all I am" by Hillsongs

In times of sadness and stress, when you're on the verge of breaking down.. listen to this.

School is crazy, Geog thought A is a murder, it has killed me by 99.999% already from its sheer chim-ness and stupid convoluted writing style by most authors who just want to show off the depth and extend of their academic prowess without a strand of pity for humble, barely-surviving students like me.

I have to explain the development of a strand of geographic thought (Nature-Society) theories, concepts through the years since 1970s in an essay. Deadline on thursday, hang on and check back to see if i'm still breathing then. ;)

More MM News :)

MM coming to Singapore is one of the most exciting news in cosmetics history for me!
Hence, more of the Majolica Marjorca craziness ensues, want to see what products will be sold in Singapore?

Here's some of the topsellers plus their prices! Crazily affordable, but $2-6 more than what is sold on JPmon, and probably a teeny bit more than their prices in Japan and Taiwan. When i go to Japan next year, be sure that i'll grab tons of MM, Kanebo and Kate stuff plus, Meiji Collagen..

Anyways, look at these from Watson's catalogue :)

Majolica Marjorca News and Cycling(?)

I've been an avid reader of Fashion Nation , Singapore's quintessential fashion blog and some days back, they had a post about cycling as a private transportation tool. This is after Mr Brown have inspired them with his cycling tours around New York..

And i saw this picture, and thought about the various Japanese and Korean dramas that i have watched. Dramas like "Orange Days" and "Goong Princess Hours" have leads that cycle to school and so on..

And that made me want to own a bicycle! A lady's one of course, not those ruggedly mountain bikes that is so off my image, such as the one above. :) It must be pretty or look delicate but sturdy.. have a basket to put my bag or picnic stuff.. have a back that could possibly carry a person (so maybe someone can cycle me around just for fun, or take friends to cycle around)... and preferbly something light pink (close to white) like the above, or a sleek metallic frame is okay too..

But where shall I cycle to? The beach i guess, my school is too far to be cycled to...

Majolica Marjorca News

Anyway, yea, majolica is coming to Singapore to the more prominent Watsons in Singapore! YAY, like ngee ann city, vivo, bugis, marina square, suntec :D I have always been a huge fan of Majolica Majorca (MM for short) because although it is a drugstore brand (so prices from $10+ to $20+), it is a sister brand of Shiseido!! Which is known for its quality and history in the Japanese and Asian beauty scene. I have always love drugstore brands anyway, with Maybelline and Loreal Paris as my favourite (used to)...

Now it is MM!! ;D

What to get from there?
- Their famous mascaras (Lash Enamel is good for volume, and their comb-like wand is a hit)

- I like their neo-automatic Eyeliners :)

- Pigmented eyeshadow pacts, their stuff are dainty and pretty
- Maybe lip gloss and such

But if you see how it's like in Japan, (it is so 'premium' to me because it was previously hard to get in Singapore unless you go to Taiwan or Japan to purchase it, or buy it online)..

It is really a drugstore brand that is even displayed , picture from Fashion Nation again.
Japan is saturated with makeup products anyway.

We could probably buy it at the end of October this month, or early November.
I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO IT! :)

Here's the Singapore Website for MM, it is quite interactive, visit @

Nothing much except..school

I've been complaining about the terrible stresses faced as a student in NUS, and the very humid and hot weather that is unusually unbearable that i can't survive without the air con at night. It makes me feel really lethargic in the afternoon and i find it so hard to concentrate..while i wish i can hide in an air-con room all day and not face the weather.

I wish, really wish that i can go overseas and live there for a couple of months or years. At least the weather may make me feel more productive, and allow me to take long walks outside, and a quaint old town/city rich with history and culture will captivate me... imagine people who dress to inspire, reading books al-fresco style with a cup of tea and cake in nice cooling weather... Just dreaming.

Still feel really inadequate in school and about school. Completely unsure of yourself, Honors year pokes fun at all your inadequacies, reminding you to be humble and very thankful just to survive on a daily basis. Is it supposed to be like that?

I am seriously in love with "Hana Yori Dango"

Yes, that's the japaanese drama that got me completely head over heels, madly crazily attracted to. I watched everything in 2 days online, and that's terrible cos it's not legal but buying the original will take a while to search for. But i am so in love with this drama that i am going to buy their whole series - Season 1, 2 and the Movie.

Btw, for those not in the know, the Movie is called "Boys over Flowers" which i watched earlier this week and that set me thinking about watching the drama. It is the Japanese version, more authentic version of the Meteor Garden Taiwanese Drama.

My two favourite songs of the drama, especially like the first one.

Hana Yori Dango Season 1 Theme Song - Blue Mind

Hana Yori Dango Season 2 Music Video (contain spoilers)

Okay, i am going to buy the whole series plus the soundtrack. It touches me as deeply as the korean drama "My girl" and its rare for me to be this hooked on something. Sigh, really touching show.

PS: I love domyoji tsukasa and makino tsukashi :)

I need to change!

I'm truly sorry to Anna, my very dear friend from JADE ever since the secondary school days. Because this is the xth number of time that i've cancelled out on her last minute because of some self-related reasons.

Example: Last minute school work and deadline, meeting someone else (bf), inconvenience (cos the meeting place include a train+bus ride and i hate bus rides), too tired/lazy to go out, or like yesterday.....

HOOKED on my Japanese drama and i just want to do nothing except to finish it. And i did, in 2 days. 20 episodes in 2 days. I didn't even want to eat or sleep, and could think of nothing except the show. And very terribly, cancelled out on my weekend day's out with Anna and we're supposed to have tons of fun, both looking forward to it all week (i did, before the drama addiction started).. supposed to go to Vivo's River Island for this CLEO workshop on how to incorporate autumn trends into your wardrobe.

Screams, cleo events are what i always look forward to! And to catch up with a very dear friend, doing girly things, and especially when Anna is always so fun and open to new experiences.. like trying on funky clothes. Having girly tea sessions together.

I am so sorry Anna!! :( :( :(

And because i watched the show until 3am for the past 2 nights, and before that, slept at 2-3 am for the previous nights because of project rushing, i was so tired and i couldn't wake up, feel so weak to go to church today that i woke up at 10+, instead of the usual 8am for church. And i was supposed to teach sunday school to the kids, about creation of the world.

I can't believe i am such a terrible person who only cares about herself. I've been thinking, i'm indeed more self-centered than normal others. And it is a very horrible thing to realise about yourself.

So i am going to change!!

Please pray for me too. :(

PS: Some pictures from Nash's birthday, he is 8 years old, on September 19.

He looks really cute in the photos, and happy.
He never had a birthday celebration before, but we really wanted to do something special for him.

Some pictures from Celest's birthday high-tea @ Yumcha :)

It was 'lok kok' day, and everyone in geog class have to wear the most terribly casual, underdressed attire.
