I'll never find someone like you

Right now, this song can't escape my head and i keep listening, keep listening to it on repeats.

Keith Martin - Never Find Someone Like You (Official Music Video) - The most popular videos are here

How do you feel so much passion and love for someone enough to say "i'll never find someone like you"? I don't know..but such a moment is so rare.

All I have is just my heart and my feelings i give to you
that's all i can do to keep you forever

Black singers are really good at such songs that sweeps you off your feet with the intensity of their songs. My favoured songs like 'End of the road', 'We're in this love together' and all are sung by blacks. I don't mean this term negatively, but it is really a compliment.

I wonder, in a fast paced cosmopolitan tropical asian country like Singapore, are we able to live life this passionately? Without a care in the world sometimes, a job is just a job if you don't like it you leave. *American parents advise their children to leave if the job doesn't suit them vs Asian parents ask u to bear it n tolerate* Why can't we live life? Why can't we really live it? Enjoy it, slow down its pace..i don't mean drunken revelry sort of 'living it up' but.. i don't know...

don't go to work, sit in the fields, face the mountains and have a picnic. play some music and learn an instrument and work ends at 5pm sharp. whatever doesn't get done is left to the next day. the way of life that everyone expects and live. if society thinks homogeneously about this, we get a life! but if thinking is diff and some works harder than the rest... the ones who live life gets branded as a slacker and inefficient and unmotivated worker.

a colleague of mine says that i need more motivation, need more efficiency, need to be more considerate of shared resources. i agree with the latter two because to obtain number 2 i have to sacrifice number 3 if it slows me down. but number 1? i cannot agree to it. i'm already trying my best and i am motivated, but i haven't reached to their standards of efficiency, what can i do abt it?

criticize the work but never the intention. yet i can't dislike her because if that is what she feels is the truth, i rather she says it than hide it. and if she genuinely feel it will affect my performance , if she says it it helps me. but if it is a case of overhigh stds, then i say i do not appreciate it unless it is timely.... i dont think my work is bad because i can be a perfectionist but i m just slower in producing it.

I dreamt this morning of having a dog, maybe he is not mine but he'll be my best doggy friend. i dreamt of saying "i love you, i love you so much!" to him and hugging him to bits. And he will wag his tail happily and love me back, grinning all the time with his furry golden coat. he's very much like a golden retriever, happy and jolly and very handsome by dog's standards.

Do you think the reason why we like pets is because they will never judge you? I am talking about dogs and cats and maybe the occassional horse *if you can afford it*. They are always loyal *dogs* and even if you are the baddest person on earth, they are always faithful. Even if you are fat, ugly, suck at work, have no friends or is penniless, they will still love you.

PS: I met N a few nights ago on the streets and immediately i thought of the song "Look Away".

The ugly truth

On my flight back from bangkok, i watched The Ugly Truth. Such films are quite common but very much in demand to pass your time.. what really strikes me is how ugly the truth is.

he says, u don't have to do anything. just get on the treadmill and learn to **** a good **. whateverrr. i hate it, i hate it, i hate it.

i hate how that works. hate it hate it hate it. so what if i can or cannot be that?

alot is always abt satisfying the points that attract him, less is on how he does xxx to attract u. or is it really?

if we compare looks + body with money, maybe that is the female and male parallel of what a DESIRED is like.

so how? if you can't look like xxs, or have some issues, then the level of desirability falls?

i hate it. maybe it's the best reason to be single. accountable to no one but yourself. So if someone have got an issue with you, you can safely show him to........buzz off. and if some hard physical work converts to an advantage, there will be a queue of the not-so-wanted-because-she-is-too-fabulous-for-u.

single works best. maybe.. .. ..

Thankful and Taiwan

In church today, I suddenly thought of how much God have given me in my life and how blessed I am. Things that I have prayed for earnestly come through, albeit after years of praying the same prayer. We just need to be patient and wait upon him in His time, not ours.

Anyway, here's a picture of us during our off day.

Sitting by his school watching students play frisbee, i am envious of how free and how much fun they seem to have! I get these itching-to-play moments when i watch people having fun.

We also got a book that was highly recommended by my friend Joce - "The Five Languages of Love" where it talks about how Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Services and Physical Touch are ways of communicating love. Initally, it felt a bit too much as this book keeps referring to "spouse" this and that. Well..

Btw, why do so many SMU students use Apple laptops? It is an eerily high percentage! Macbook (mostly pros) are everywhereee. Scary. It makes me re-think getting one. And though the newest Macbook is cool, i hate how easily it can be scratched. But is a Macbook Pro 13" worth that $400+ more?

Honestly, i prefer the sleeker surface and look of a Pro. The white Macbook just feels like a child's toy.

A fairytale

Hearing my gf's story of how she met her special someone, i think it is magic. Love and life alike is a series of coincidences isn't it? A step leading to another, and finally..

So many thoughts go into my mind, so many questions without an answer. Things I know I have to do, but i can't. I don't want to, too cowardly to. I know i'll just end up hurting myself, but what if this sacrifice is worth it to prevent something bigger? Or it is just that stupid part of me I can't let go. If I do, will i still be me?

You know it is not worth it and you want to say it, you want to run to him and apologize, and hold him, and say you're sorry. You are sorry, you are sorry, you are sorry for hurting him... And how much you really mean to me. And I'm just so afraid to let you know, it's too much for me to admit.

Stupid haughty pride. I better not publish this.

social charity?

i finally found someone whom i can practice french with.

the cbd at night is a strange, strange place.

i hate people who say "don't worry i am not a salesman, this is for the cancer kids..blah blah blah"

ackk, how do i know if you are not some 'charity fund raiser' raising money for some money-making social enterprise?

these days, i am so skeptical of these random people who approach you for ____ (fill in the blanks - i.e. charity, insurance, banks, gym, flyer distributor). they are plain annoying and although i pity the people in these positions. i am rarely in a good enough mood with enough time to entertain them.

1) B1 - office attire, with that classic one liner, follow and walk with you. Sorry, i am not interested.
2) B2 - office attire, un-ironed, classic one liner, interrupted my leisurely browse in front of the shop window. "Are you waiting for someone?" Yes, so? I am sorry, but I am not interested. "blah blah blah" You know what, 10 people approached me about this and I.am.still.not.interested.

3) B3 - office attire again, classic one liner. This took place half an hour later at 10.45pm. Max annoyed. Didn't even look at him, just indicated with my finger - No means no. This company just crossed the line.

I think terrible things will come out of my mouth if another person approach me. I don't know what I am going to say, but i am too annoyed to care about who this person is underneath. Maybe he is some adoring sweet boyfriend who is the world to someone, maybe he is in this job because his parent is ill...maybe he just can't find a better job, or maybe......he is a true blue kind hearted soul.

But catch me in such a situation, i am quite unable to be nice anymore.

German Film Festival: Der Tunnel

European films never fail to sweep me away with their interpretation of life. Fighting for freedom, voicing your rights, following your heart, breaking the norms .. is the norm. That's the impression I have of the European approach to life. Live life motivated by a cause with a strong passion. I think that is beautiful. Not necessarily right, but it has my full admiration.

I watched Der Tunnel yesterday with Kenneth and his friends, a film shown specially for the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin wall. I can't convey how much I appreciate and am touched by this film, it is simply.. gripping. The characters featured are strong in their conviction in wanting to rescue their fellow family/loved ones from East Berlin, bonded by this shared conviction, the interplay of their varying personalities and individual strengths are the engines behind his ambitious project - digging a tunnel from West Berlin to East Berlin.

A journey fraught with challenges and tremendous sacrifices, with pain and heartache... held on merely by the hope of reuniting with their loved ones at the other side, this film is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates a good insight into history and is willing to venture beyond Hollywood to films with real artistic depth.

Watch the trailer here.

And if you're not so into those, la mode of the 60s is fascinating inspiration.

Impeccably dressed before mass fashion infiltrated into millions of wardrobes. My generation have lived all our lives in a world of mass fashion, how expensive is a switch! For me, tailoring and alterations feel like a hassle and an extra expense. But you know, it seems that people in the past may have owned much less clothing but they are always finely dressed according to their stations.

Variety and price vs quality?
